It’s Friday, so that means it’s time for Shout-Outs and Fist-Bumps. So let’s start shouting…
I was cruising through some random links on PhotoShelter, and I found this really amazing gallery of high school senior portraits by Aric Becker. I don’t think I’ve ever seen senior portrait images this well-shot. (Comes complete with flaming baseballs!)
I emailed Aric about it for more details.
“This gallery was from a senior portrait shoot,” he said. “Our style and goal is to bring out the personality in our clients. So with this particular senior, he is an outstanding athlete played varsity football three of his four years and was selected to the senior all state game, baseball is his favorite sport and will be playing college baseball somewhere. Kellen also grew up on a farm so he really wanted to show that side also.”

You rocked it, Aric. Fantastic job!
Congrats to Kike Calvo, for having one of his Costa Rica surfing images selected for inclusion in a photo gallery about Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast on the New York Times’ website.
Some Twitter Love
PhotoShelter pages have this cool option that allows people to post links directly to Twitter, and many photographers are benefiting from the increased traffic and views (not to mention SEO benefits) that this provides.
Here are a few images that have been mentioned on Twitter recently:
Allan Johnston’s photo of people in Sea Kayaks chasing rainbows in Milford Sound World Heritage area Fiordland National Park New Zealand has been getting a great deal of Twitter love in the past week. Congrats, Allan.
A nice simple picture of a stack of books by Bryan Mullennix was worthy of some Twitter action. This kind of picture has a lot of different uses, and he did a nice job with the keywords. Great selection of colored books, too.
Keith Heneghan’s picture of a crazed screaming fan watching “Jedward” on stage at the Royal Theatre and Event Centre, Ireland, got tweeted. Jedward, an Irish singing duo, are identical twins named John and Edward.
A dramatic landscape photo shot by Brooks C. Rickard 3 found a fan or two in the Twitter world. This is a nice picture, and it’s cool that it is getting some attention on Twitter, but it would probably do even better if the image contained a caption and some keywords! (Doh!)
The festival of Holi is a religious festival in India, and one of Poras Chaudhary’s images got some well-deserved Twitter love. This festival is super colorful, and can produce some really visually striking images. Nice job, Poras.
A nice live concert photo by Saquan Stimpson featuring The Dirty Pearls at the Gramercy Theatre. Even though it was shot back in December, it still has value on Twitter, especially among the band’s fans.
Carlos Sanchez Pereyra’s picture from a Barcelona beach found some fans on Twitter. This is one of those images you can look at for a long time and keep finding things. It was shot with a nice layering technique, so there is plenty to look at.
Shubhra Chaturvedi has some Twitter fans of her own. Her really cool artistic images explore color and patterns are available for sale as prints. You should look at the entire gallery – she has a really nice eye, and her images are definitely worthy of a wall or two.
Have a great weekend!
