Mater Dei High School Finds its Dream DAM Solution with PhotoShelter

Mater Dei High School has selected PhotoShelter as their digital asset management system to simplify their tech stack.

Mater Dei is a co-ed Catholic prep school—and the oldest and largest high school of its kind in Orange County, California. Known for launching students into medicine, law, education, ministry, and more, it’s home to a long list of standout alumni: National Merit Scholars, Olympians, award-winning artists, and even Heisman winners.

To showcase student success, the school needs a strong marketing and storytelling solution to bring its vibrant community to life.

Before PhotoShelter, Mater Dei had a “Frankstein effort, at best” for managing and sharing their content. The school was relying on Google Drive, Dropbox, email, and even text messages.

Mater Dei needed one trusted hub to collect and distribute content from nearly 50 campus life programs and athletic teams.

A simplified tech stack

In 2021, Parker Shoaff, Mater Dei’s Director of Digital Content, had an idea: turn an old storage closet into a content creation lab.

The space now powers student storytellers, college interns, and the comms team, giving them a place to shoot, edit, and publish content across the school’s website, social channels, and ads.

“We chose PhotoShelter to streamline and elevate those efforts,” said Allison Bergeron, Executive Director of Communications & Media Relations. “It helps us keep our growing content library organized, accessible, and shareable.”

“When we had our first demo call with PhotoShelter, it felt like a dream come true. And although we are just getting started, we are beyond excited about what is ahead!  We are so confident this investment will help us work smarter, organize faster, and achieve things we only imagined previously.”

“Mater Dei understands the power of visual storytelling,” said Andrew Fingerman, CEO of PhotoShelter. “They are building the kind of system every school needs. One that makes it easy to organize, find, and share content that reflects their values and brings their community to life.”
