Austin FC’s Scroll Stopping Social Media Strategy
Austin FC scores on social media with real-time game content that engages fans.
With the 2021 soccer season coming to an end, Austin FC is gearing up for their last game on November 7th and we want to highlight their visual media strategy and some of their most “scroll stopping” moments seen on social media this season.
On Wednesday, November 17 at 2pm ET, we’re going live with Rankin White, Team Photographer, and Hannah Fields, Social Media Team Lead, to learn how this soccer club built a legendary fan base by documenting the team’s evolving talent and moments of hometown pride.
From Austin FC’s first game ever in April 2021 through to their last game of the season, this passionate Texas team performed match after match with superstar energy for their fans, opponents and the media.
We first sat down with Rankin at 20/21 Vision: The Collaboration Summit to discuss his game-day strategy at the beginning of their first-ever season with MLS.
“So, I’m down on the field, and we need to get photos up to our social media managers live in-game as fast as we can. The cool thing is we have some FTP hard wires on each end of the stadium that allow me to transfer photos that I’ve tagged from my camera up to our social media managers from the game as they’re happening.”

With a real-time workflow at play, fans and followers who aren’t able to attend a match are able to see the action on social media in seconds.
